Ubuntu 10.04 PowerPC bleibt bei der Firefox Version 3.6.3 kleben. Ein Grund für uns den Compiler für die Version 3.6.6 zu starten.

Gerade weil Ubuntu 10.04 bereits veröffentlicht ist und es bis 10.10 noch etwas dauert, macht es wieder Sinn Pakete zu bauen. Hier Thunderbird in der deutschen Version 3.1 als Community Build für den PowerPC unter Ubuntu 10.04

CRUX PPC 2.6 ports and pre-compiled for the IcedTea Java Development Kit (OpenJDK) and OpenOffice suite are now updated. They are available for ppc and ppc64.

Why? There is a problem with the optical drive and the PowerPC port of Ubuntu 10.04. Perhaps it is related to an incomplete user rights management. To solve this, I compiled the Linux Kernel 2.6.34 from the sources, just to find out if it is related to the official Ubuntu Kernel.

Are now available two archives with the full CRUX PPC toolchain (current snapshot: 06 June 2010) already compiled in a clean environment and ready to be used for a quick update.

Das Management von SCO war der festen Überzeugung, das Copyright an Unix von Novell erhalten zu haben. Obwohl dies von Seiten von Novell immer bestritten wurde, obwohl die Formulierung im Vertrag eindeutig war, niemand von SCO mit dieser Meinung bei der Ausformulierung des Vertrags dabei war, obwohl ein Richter dies verneinte. Vor einem Gericht mit einer Jury würde man zeigen können, dass man doch die Rechte bekommen habe. Nun sagt die Jury: Nö, keine Copyright an Unix für SCO.
